Aim

Time-travel, gender-bending and historical drama! MORE FOOL YOU, a new two part play coming to Ed fringe- but we need your help!

After a hugely successful run with Shakespeare’s HENRIAD in 2018; Windfall Theatre Collective (formerly FESTIVUS) is returning to Edinburgh with a brand new show!

The time-travelling, gender-bending, historical drama spectacle: MORE FOOL YOU is a new play in two parts that will alter your concept of the past forever! But we need your help to make this amazing show the gigantic success it deserves to be. We are hoping to use money raised to pay the third instalment of our venue costs and fund some of our expenses on historical costumes and set which will make the play feel more authentic and really bring the past to life!

What?

MORE FOOL YOU injects a pansexual, gender-fluid figure from our near future directly into the Tudor court. What ensues is an interaction, influencing and manipulation of historical events surrounding Britain's most infamous monarch: King Henry VIII himself.

An exciting piece of new writing, the two parts of the play allow us to examine the facts and intrigues of the past - whilst holding a mirror to our present. We will meet with some of the biggest players in the Tudor court, and help to bring King Henry's worst nightmares to life!

Travel with us through a window into the past, and see characters of history as you've never seen them before...

When?

The double bill of MORE FOOL YOU will alternate each night in weeks two and three of the Festival Fringe this year. It is an ambitious project presenting a fresh and original perspective on the reign of King Henry VIII. Ticket links with more information are below.

Who?

WINDFALL is an emerging and innovative theatre company devoted to presenting classically inspired theatre with a modern twist. Our cast is full of new, up-and-coming performers from the fringe theatre scenes of London, Manchester and Liverpool.

Why?

You merely need take a look at such cultural phenomena as SIX, WOLF HALL and the novels of Philippa Gregory to see that Tudor 'mania' is still very much on the rise in today's Britain. MORE FOOL YOU brings the Tudors and our modern obsession with them together with dramatic results. Henry VIII has been called 'The original Brexiteer' and we are currently living through a time of national division comparable to the tumult and chaos of the Reformation (although thankfully with less executions!)

We hope to use this story to illustrate the differences, but also the striking parallels between the worlds of then and now, and explore the limits of universal human nature and to what extent our nation has truly changed over time.
