To help Disabled People and those living with long term health conditions to Get More Active in Surrey!
A fabulous organisation campaigning and promoting the rights of Disabled people to have equality of opportunity and to live independently. We feel it is vital that disability is on everyone’s agenda when decisions are being made. Our Get More Active project is helping Disabled People and those living with a long term health condition to stay active.

Right now accessing funding is tough but we know our Get More Active project makes a huge difference to our members. So we're crowd funding to keep the project up and running/wheeling!
The pandemic was a tough time for everybody but our members were disproportionately affected. Many fell under the most vulnerable category meaning that they spent long periods of time at home.
Of course, this impacted their levels of activity and fitness. This project is helping Disabled People and those living with long term health conditions to get more active. Not only does it help with improving fitness, it also helps with building up our members confidence in taking part in physical activities.
In addition, the cost of living crisis is impacting our members ability to take part in activities. We provide a free virtual gentle exercise session each week, which includes top tips on how to find activities that low cost or free!
We'll use the money to keep our Get More Active project running!
The funds will be used to to fund our Physical Activity Navigator to keep offering the following:
One-to-one appointments with the Physical Activity Navigator
These are for any disabled adult or somebody with a long term health condition who would like support in finding the right activity for them, and the practical support to engage in it (for example, registration, organising travel)
Weekly group peer-support sessions
These are popular and will continue to be run as an informal ‘café style’ drop-in group for any disabled person who would like some peer support around physical activity. We also offer a gentle exercise session at these weekly informal drop in sessions.
Get out and Active buddies
Disabled people can be ‘matched’ with a trained volunteer Get Out and Active buddy. These matches will last as long as the disabled person finds them of use, and they will be reviewed every 3 months. Some people might meet their match every week to get out or active, others might meet them more or less frequently.
Regular ‘have a go’ sessions at a variety of community-wide events
Disabled people will be able to join community-wide events to give them a go as part of a supported group. Members can try out sailing, cycling or swinging from the trees in a canopy!
Get Out and Active information resource
The Physical Activity Navigator will continue to build and develop the resource library of blogs, vlogs and other resources – helping disabled people to find information on opportunities to be active in Surrey.
This project makes such a difference to our members! Not only does it help build confidence to get more active, it also reduces loneliness and isolation! It helps people feel like part of their community.

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
