A by-election has been called in Thames View ward and the Green's can win this with your help! A competent councillor for Thames View.
Thames View is an electoral ward just south of central Barking and elects two councillors to Barking and Dagenham Council. Due to a resignation, a by-election has been called.
This is an ideal chance for a Green breakthrough on Barking and Dagenham Council with our superb local candidate Paul David Powlesland. Paul is an environmental barrister by trade and the founder of both the River Roding Trust and Lawyers for Nature.
What we need
There are only around 2000 households in the ward, so despite only having 3 weeks, we are hoping to doorknock and deliver multiple times. We're looking to deliver at least two leaflets with our starting target of £1300.
With our stretch target of £2500, we can ensure we have the funds to support our campaign in holding the ward.
Who's standing?
There is no Liberal Democrat candidate, independents or minor parties standing.
Reform are standing a candidate and will hope that a low turnout, targeted campaign may get their first councillor in the area - Barking and Dagenham previously had a large BNP contingent. The community however is diverse.
We came within 1% of beating Reform to second place in the 2024 General Election and came second in the last Barking council by-election. We must solidify our position as the challengers to Labour in Barking.
