Aim

We have set a target of at least £10,000 in order to urgently upgrade and improve our facilities, including our outdoor nets and scoreboard.

Gedling Colliery Cricket Club has been at the heart of the local community since we were formed in 1903.

We run three Saturday teams in the South Notts Cricket League, a Sunday team in the Newark Alliance, and a Development team which helps give our junior players their first taste of senior cricket.  We have a thriving junior section with over 100 members, offering Kwik Cricket from age 7, plus hardball teams from under 11s to under 15s.  We have a ladies softball team, and run the ECB All Stars and Dynamos programmes.  We also have a successful girls team – some of which are pictured below…

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions, we have not been able to play any cricket until the end of July.  This has lead to lots of frustrated senior and junior players having time on their hands and nowhere to play, and the local community being unable to come along and enjoy their weekends and weekday evenings watching their local senior sides, youth teams and ladies softball team.  It has been a difficult and frustrating time for everyone, and has also meant that we have been unable to hold our summer BBQs, fundraising activities and other community led events – thus leading to a huge shortfall in our funding.  We had plans to upgrade our outdoor net facilities by installing artificial grass for the bowlers run ups, as well as making improvements to our scoreboard. We would also really like to purchase a new bowling machine for use by both senior and junior members.

The pandemic has also meant that our coaches have not been able to go into local schools to teach youngsters how to play cricket, helping out the teachers during PE lessons to give a lot of youngsters their first taste of cricket.  We very much hope that this will commence again in 2021, as we pride ourselves in out links with the local schools and parents often bring their children to join in sessions at our lovely ground.

As we have been unable to run any of our fundraising activities this season, we have set up this Crowdfunding campaign, and are hoping to receive matched funding from the Sport England Active Funding project to help us reach our target.  We are offering lots of different rewards in return for your donations, as detailed to the right of this page - which now include some rewards which will benefit local businesses in these difficult economic times.

Whether you are a business keen to support a local club, a junior or senior player, an ex-player wanting to help their old club, a member of the local community, or just someone who wants to aid a good cause - your donation would be very much appreciated.

We look forward to running a successful campaign, and will keep you updated as to how we are progressing - thanks for helping us meet our target!
