GAY SHAME MCR FUNDRAISER

Aim

We're fundraising for palestine in protest of Manchester Pride's sponsorship this year while providing a space for artists' political agency

GAY SHAME MCR is: Pro Palestine, Pro Artist Agency, Pro Compassion 

We will:

Donate proceeds from this fundraiser to Medical Aid for Palestinians

Put on an event at the Derby Brewery Arms, Manchester, paying artists whos values have been compromised and situations exploited by mainstream pride's corporate sponsors who are complicit in Gnocd.

It will feature  

• A Queer Cabaret
• Dance performance
• 5 hours of Djs

OUR VALUES

• Support queer people in resisting global capitalist politics
• Provide artists and audiences with a space to practice their principles and have agency
• Prioritise Anti-Genocide, Queer and Trans People, People of Colour, and Working-Class folks, by continuing to centre visibility and support.
• Put any and all post-artist fee funds into anti-genocide Palestine aid charity, Medical Aid for Palestinians
• Lead with transparency and compassion

For our event, we are prioritising bookings for QTIPOC, Working Class Queer and trans folks, particularly those from the North West, whos values are compromised by Mainstream Pride Sponsorship.

We acknowledge with compassion that individuals from certain backgrounds (qtipoc and working class/unwaged people primarily) suffer from unfair power dynamics with  mainstream pride orgs and are aiming to provide a space for these individuals to show solidarity with Palestine, in particular if they are losing funds from dropping out/donating fees.

Our praxis is centred on providing material support to colonized communities while holding Corporations to account. We treat individuals with care - presenting them with alternatives, while applying pressure socially and raising awareness of the pressing issue of global genocidal politics.
