I am currently producing a documentary short film about the world renowned percussionist ‘Gary Kettel’.
I am working in conjunction with the director ‘Brendan Void’ to create a visual biography reflecting on the past and present career of Gary. We explore his history as a young musician, touring, working as a film session musician which subsequently has led him to compose his own score entitled ‘Kaleidoscope’ for solo flute and percussion.
Gary was a musical prodigy. He achieved the position of principal timpanist in the BBC Symphony Orchestra at the young age of of nineteen. By personal request, his career then extended to the world of film music, becoming a sought after session player for John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Alan Menken, James Horner, Danny Elfman, Harry Gregson-Williams and Alan Silvestrito to name a few.
Gary also happens to be my father therefore, the film will be a very personal project
Currently the film is self funded by both myself and Brendan, Gary’s life long colleagues have all very kindly agreed to be part of the film, and we have high expectation that the final outcome of the film will be a beautiful, high production value piece of art. The distribution of the film will be focused towards streaming channels, international film festivals and potentially some Television networks.
