To provide two permanent Petanque pitches, for the enjoyment of everyone, positioned next to the playground in Denton Lane, Garsington.
Garsington Petanque (Boules) is a thriving community women’s boules group in the village of Garsington, Oxfordshire. Our group was set up in 2021using space on the edge of the cricket pitch managed by the S&SC. It was a great antidote after COVID both for gentle exercise as well as lifting our spirits socially. We were all beginners to the sport.

It now feels the right time to make 2 permanent all-weather pitches which can be enjoyed by everyone in the village. As a trial, we mowed and cut a grass pitch on Parish Council land next to the children’s playground. This is where the new permanent pitches would be constructed.
We are aiming to reach at least 25 unique supporters to unlock a massive £6,097 match-funding grant from the Sport England Movement Fund!
We are undertaking to build two completely new permanent all-weather gravel Pétanque pitches. We also eventually aim to provide seating, equipment, score board and ‘The Rules of the Game’ board to make this truly welcoming and inclusive for all. Our group is setting up a series of fundraising activities and events which we hope you will support. We are aiming to raise £6,097 from our crowdfunding, which Sport England will then match pound-for-pound with another £6097.
We have added some fundraising ‘rewards’ which we hope might help us reach our fundraising goal; please do take a look.
Thank you everyone for your support; it means a great deal to us.

These pitches will be available to all in our community to enjoy, free of charge, for gentle exercise and can be used all year round. We hope to make boules sets available to borrow (school, pub, S&SC) and then hopefully individuals will purchase their own sets (£10-20).

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
