Aim

Create a vibrant community mural on Gadshill Road, bringing Eastville residents together through inclusive outdoor painting sessions.

🎨 Gadshill Road Brick Project – Let’s Transform These Walls Together!

This June 2026, we’re inviting Eastville residents to help transform a graffiti-affected location on Gadshill Road into a vibrant, permanent community artwork.

Over six large-scale outdoor mural sessions, local families, young people, asylum seekers, faith groups and neighbours will paint their own individual brick within a shared design. Every contribution matters. No experience needed.

This isn’t just about painting.

It’s about:

➔ Bringing people out of isolation

➔ Creating positive activity in a deprived area

➔ Reducing vandalism through community ownership

➔ Building pride in a shared public space

Participants will paint, create, collaborate and spend meaningful time outdoors in a welcoming, structured environment. For many, this will be their first step into community-based activity.

We’ve delivered successful Brick Projects across Bristol for over a decade. Thousands of people have taken part. Together with the residents of Gadshill Road we have developed a Brick Project for Eastville.

But we can’t do it without you.

🎈 WHO ARE WE?

Brick Project CIC is a Bristol-based community arts organisation with over 20 years’ experience working locally.

We create large-scale collaborative murals that make art accessible to everyone, regardless of age, background or ability.

We work closely with schools, faith centres, refugee support organisations and community groups to ensure our projects are inclusive, welcoming and free to attend. In Gadshill Road we are looking forward to working alongside the Scouts whose hut is right next to the site, residents on the street and May Park Primary School.

Every brick is photographed and archived, creating a lasting digital record of who made this artwork possible.

This is community creativity in action.

🎈 WHY ARE WE CROWDFUNDING?

We need £6,000 to make this transformative project happen in June 2026. £5,000 covers mural delivery (artist facilitation, professional outdoor paints/varnish for 20-year protection), and £1,000 supports essentials (insurance, safeguarding, governance) so Brick Project CIC can continue safe, inclusive work.

Without this funding, the wall stays neglected, missing a chance to reduce graffiti through ownership, provide structured outdoor activity in a high-deprivation area, and engage isolated residents. Your support will:

      - Bring people together outdoors for meaningful, active collaboration

      - Protect Bristol's local environment with low-carbon delivery and responsible waste management

       - Restore pride in an area that has been a target of anti-social behaviour

This isn't just painting, it's building resilience, pride, and a cleaner, more connected Eastville. Your pledge matters!

🎈 HOW WE’LL SPEND THE MONEY RAISED

Here’s how your support breaks down:

🎨 If we raise £1,500, we can buy the workshop materials (Professional-grade outdoor paint and varnish) and safety equipment needed to make the project possible
🎨 If we raise £2,000, we'll have enough materials to be prepared for project extension, tagging restoration during the project and printing of leaflets for promotion.
At this level of income, our project leads will be working voluntarily. Please note that facilitation is the main source of income for some Brick Project workers
🎨 If we raise £4,500, we can pay minimum wage to project leads to work with the public over 8-10 hour shifts over 6 days
🎨 If we raise £5,500, Brick Project CIC can pay their overheads and the project leads at a better rate, for each hour they have worked

🎨 If we raise or exceed our total £6,000+, We will be able to run the entire project and create an interactive website for the Gadshill Road Brick Project, so this collaborative explosion of colour can be shared worldwide

Total: £6,000

We have minimised this project's costs by:

➔ Using volunteer support - we are training UWE students in community art facilitation

➔ Transporting materials by bicycle (zero emissions)

➔ Securing loaned gazebos for weather protection

Every pound delivers direct community and environmental benefits, preventing paint pollution and creating lasting positive change.

🎈 COMMUNITY IMPACT

This project will:

➔ Improve a neglected public space

➔ Reduce graffiti. Taggers don't feel comfortable painting over children's work and memorials. Also the easy wipe surface is easier to clean than a rough brick surface.

➔ Provide structured outdoor activity in an area of high deprivation

➔ Engage families, young people and residents experiencing isolation

➔ Build long-term pride and shared ownership

➔ Support active and sustainable travel - the site is right next to a frequent bus route and well used cycling and walking routes. There is a large park nearby - extend your walk or run by visiting Gadshill Brick Project!

➔ Prevent pollution in a changing climate by responsibly managing art waste, ensuring our mural sessions leave no harmful trace on local water systems, part of our decade-long Brick Project model

Children from nearby schools will see their artwork become part of the local landscape.

Newly arrived residents will see their creativity recognised.

Neighbours who have never spoken before will stand side by side painting together.

This is how community is built.

🎈 HOW YOU CAN PLAY YOUR PART

There are three simple ways to help:

1. Make a pledge today, early momentum is everything.
2️. Share this campaign on social media and WhatsApp groups.
3️. If you’re a local business, make a pledge and have your logo featured in a special 'supporter's section' of the wall.

Together, we can transform this wall.
