Aim

Help bring G R I E F C A S E to life—a bold new physical theatre show exploring grief, memory and the power of shared experience.

I found a woman who had collapsed outside my front door. I tried to resuscitate her, but I couldn't save her.

She died in front of me.

My name is Ru, and I'm the founder and Artistic Director of Tailwind Physical Theatre.

The work you're supporting didn't begin in a rehearsal room. It began with grief.

I couldn't eat. I couldn't sleep. I lost my job and spent months trying to understand what had happened and how to keep existing in a world that suddenly felt completely different.

G R I E F C A S E was born from that experience.

What began as a way to survive slowly became a way to understand. The earliest seeds of the work emerged during a workshop with Animikii Theatre. I found myself returning again and again to grief, memory and the way our bodies hold experiences we struggle to put into words. Since then, I've continued developing a practice rooted in care, movement and lived experience.

I started making G R I E F C A S E in 2024. Since then, the show has sold out performances across London and is now entering its biggest chapter yet as the first co-production from The Hope Theatre in fifteen years.

But this show was never only about me.

After performances, audiences stayed behind. People cried. They shared stories they had never told before. Some told us, "That's exactly what I needed." Those moments reminded us that grief is something we all carry, yet so often carry alone.

We are often encouraged to grieve quietly, to move on, to keep going. G R I E F C A S E asks a different question: what happens when we make space for grief together?

This is more than a performance. It is an invitation to connect, to be witnessed and to recognise ourselves in one another's stories.

By supporting this project, you're not simply helping us stage a show. You're helping us pay artists fairly, offer free tickets to those who might not otherwise be able to attend, and create a space where people can come together to share one of life's most universal experiences.

You're helping us continue this work—and reminding people that they don't have to carry grief alone.

We're Raising £3,000

Every donation helps us remove barriers to making and experiencing this work.

£2,000 helps us pay our cast and creative team fairly. Independent theatre only exists because artists continue creating despite limited resources, and we're committed to valuing everyone's work.

£962.50 funds our Free Ticket Initiative, providing 50 free tickets for queer, working-class and grieving people who may otherwise be unable to attend.

Every pound brings us closer to creating a space where more people can feel seen.

If you're an individual, business or organisation looking to support meaningful new theatre, we'd love to hear from you.

Alongside donations, we're offering a number of partnership opportunities—from programme sponsorship to creative workshops and principal partnerships that directly support the future of G R I E F C A S E.

Grief touches every one of us.

Yet so many people are left feeling they have to carry it alone.

G R I E F C A S E is our invitation to do something different—to sit together, to listen, to remember and to make space for one another.

If this story resonates with you, we'd be incredibly grateful if you could donate, share our campaign or help us reach someone who believes in the power of this work.

Thank you for helping us continue building spaces where grief doesn't have to be carried alone.
