Aim
We would like to raise £30,000 towards the cost of an electric van to serve rough sleepers across Greater Manchester.
Grit Street Aid provides roadside assistance for rough sleepers throughout Greater Manchester by providing food, clothing, and other essential items, and befriending. We try to engage with rough sleepers with a view to helping them move into secure accommodation. This also includes signposting and working with other services to help them get the help they require. We have recently been awarded £10,000 from Awards for All towards the purchase of a hybrid/electric van which will enable us to run a greener service to benefit the environment we work in and the people we help. As modern vehicles produce less emissions, we hope this will enable us to serve the people we meet where they live on the streets or in other locations throughout Greater Manchester. Many people we help have health issues already, and an electric vehicle would enable us to go out to meet their needs without fear of adding to their problems.
