We aim to redevelop our old pavilion into a new home, giving Freiston L&L CC space to grow, welcome all, and thrive on & off the field.
Freiston L&L CC are a village cricket club based in the Lincolnshire village of Freiston. We run two senior Saturday sides, and also a midweek side playing friendly matches. We are committed to developing junior players and welcoming members from all communities within our area. Our current development potential is stifled by the availability of the community centre in which our current changing, toilet and kitchen facilities are located. The redevelopment of the pavilion will give our club athe space to develop junior players, cheer on senior teams and celebrate our successes. It will also give us much needed changing and welfare facilities during our practice sessions, allow us to have a full Saturday fixture list and play matches on bank holidays.

We are looking to redevelop the old pavilion that was built in the fifties, and hasn’t been used since the Danny Flear Community Centre was built in the early eighties. In order to make the old pavilion into our brand new pavilion we plan on undertaking a full redevelopment on the building. This will include a new roof, realignment of the internal rooms to create two larger changing rooms. We will fully renovate the existing toilet facilities and install appropriate shower facilities and provide accessible changing facilities. A new kitchen will be fitted to provide hot and cold refreshments, and a room will be created for officials. The veranda will be full redone to create a sheltered outdoor viewing area. Internal works will include new electrical systems, new flooring and decoration. New doors and windows are also required as is a comprehensive overhaul of the waste water system.
The works will assist the club in meeting the silver criteria for grounds, set out by Lincolnshire Cricket, which is essential for the club to be able to progress on the field. These works are essential in helping the club grow its junior and ladies playing contingent. The project will enable the club to be more open, accessible and welcoming and allow us to provide a more enjoyable match day experience for members, visitors and the local community.

We are raising funds from a variety of different income streams, and this crowdfunding project will play a vital role. The club is already working with the Parish Council to secure their support, and has applied for grant funding for a section of the works. Internally the club has seen a significant increase in sponsorship revenue for the 2025 season which will be used to part fund our ambitious plans.
It is estimated that the total refurbishment of the old pavilion will cost £40,000. This includes £12,000 for the roofing works, £3,000 to create a new storage area for our equipment and £5000 for electrical and plumbing works.
Every penny raised will go towards improving facilities for our members and community. Any additional funds raised will be used to purchase new sightscreens, covers and a batting net. Our current sightscreens, covers and batting net are over ten years old and approaching the end of their usable lifespan.

Our aim is to make Freiston L&L Cricket Club more than just a place to play cricket. The social aspect of the game and the club is vital to supporting member wellbeing and community benefit. Currently we struggle to do even basic social norms. Having our own space will enable us unhindered access to kitchen facilities for making hot drinks during matches, it will give us a space to store post-match drinks and a space to enjoy them. It will give us a usable indoor space when the British weather isn’t at its best. The redevelopment will enable us to offer basic welfare facilities to members during practice sessions.
For the first time the redevelopment will enable us to engage with the local community. Providing visitors, guests and supporters with refreshments and welfare facilities will enable non-playing members of our community to spend more time enjoying the cricket. The redeveloped pavilion will also give us a space to hold events and gatherings.
A further benefit to the community is that other users of the Danny Flear Community Centre will have increased access, and date availability for their events. Users of the centre on Saturdays will no longer have to work around the cricket club and share facilities but will have space for their own events. It is anticipated that this will lead to a significant increase in centre bookings and a significant increase in revenue for the Playing Fields Association who manage the Danny Flear Centre.
