Your support is essential to show big funders that The Roxy is a valued and much-loved part of the community. We've set the goal of £20,000 to raise 10% of the purchase price, but rest assured, any additional money raised will go directly towards restoring and renovating the building.
The Roxy has an uncertain future and has been on the market for several years now. It's essential that we purchase the building and secure it for the future.
The good news? We can sustain ourselves. Once we own the building, we'll be able to keep the lights on and the doors open, no matter what!
That's not the end of the road, though. We've got big plans for The Roxy's exciting future. The building does need a little TLC, and as well as making it more accessible by installing a lift, we're going to be opening up some of the many unoccupied and forgotten spaces for public use. We're going back to basics with the foyer downstairs, too and making a home for Ulverston's Tourist Information Centre.
Most importantly, The Roxy is nothing without the love and support of its community. We have so many exciting programmes and initiatives launching in the next 18 months, but we're eager to hear your thoughts and suggestions as we bring The Roxy into the future together: we can't wait to work with you!
Ulverston Town Council has already pledged a generous grant of £50,000 towards our project, and it is essential to our funding strategy that we can show The Roxy has support from its wider community. For this reason, we have set a goal of £20,000 with a stretch goal of £30,000. All the money we raise will be going directly into either our purchase or renovation efforts.
As you might imagine, this isn't something we can do overnight, but it's important that we are transparent throughout the whole process.
2020-2023: We secure the building and continue the work that has already been underway for well over six months. Follow our social media pages for regular updates.
2023-2025: Phased renovations.
It's true that every penny helps and we are extremely grateful for any and all donations you can spare. We understand times are trying right now. Any support, whether sharing on social media or via word-of-mouth will mean the world to us.
That said, we do have a few rewards for those of you who fancy being part of The Roxy's day-to-day life.
Anyone who donates £10 or more will have their name added to The Roxy Hall of Fame (or wall, in this case...).
If you've always wanted to see your name on the big screen, now is your chance. For a £100 donation, your name will be featured in the pre-show credits screening before every film!
And for the hardcore supporter, a £300 donation will sponsor you a seat in the Cinema, plaque included. You'll also be invited to special events as a VIP!
And as an extra bonus, EVERYONE who donates, no matter how small, will be included in a monthly draw to win a free pair of cinema tickets or Laurel and Hardy Museum tickets. We'll be running this for 12 months and it will only be open to those who donate in this crowdfunder.
