The Heart of the Peninsula Needs You

The Peninsula Trust has been a lifeline for our community for over 10 years. Now, we face a critical challenge. We need to raise £35,000 by the end of July to keep our vital services running for the next 6 months and help secure the Trust so it can thrive for decades to come.

As society as a whole is feeling the squeeze due to increased costs, we are facing the reality of increased interest rates, increased running and maintenance costs and like all community projects, increased demand for services.

We need vital breathing space to focus on reshaping how the Trust operates and make sure our core operations are financially stable.

Your Donation Will Make a Difference

Every donation directly impacts our community. It allows us to maintain our buildings and give our 900 members and wider community valuable support and services. It will ensure we can continue offering crucial programs and continue to positively impact our unique and amazing community:

  • We offer no-judgement access to Low-Cost / Free Food: The Trust's food larder and community kitchen project provides vital food for those in need.
  • Social and Affordable Housing: We offer five low-cost housing options, allowing young people and families to stay connected to the community.
  • Low-Cost Enterprise Space Rental: Affordable work units support local businesses and entrepreneurs to grow their businesses
  • Local Support Services: The Trust acts as a central hub, offering services like a Post Office, a library, welfare advice, signposting for additional help, and access to community events and drop-in activities.
  • We saved the Old Ship:  A burnt-out historic pub in the heart of Cawsand and transformed it into a much-loved community venue and café.

We rely on your support to keep our projects running and allow us to keep serving the Rame Peninsula.

Why The Trust is so valuable to the community:

Our work reaches many people each year, we support people with challenging issues that are often unspoken in our community and the wider society.

In 2023:

  • 4327 people benefited from our services and activities
  • 41 volunteers gave over 2866 hours of their time
  • 6252 visits to the Post Office
  • 173 community activities were supported or hosted by us
  • 134 community members received intensive 1-2-1 support
    • We helped with housing / homelessness, benefit advice, and access to food and counselling support.
  • 38 community events run by local community members
  • 32 partner organisations worked with us to raise awareness and help our community meet the challenges faced.

Without the Trust these services would not have been possible.

Where the money will go?

The £35,000 will be used to help fund our costs in providing the valuable services listed above for 6 months.

This will be broken down as follows:

  • 30% to keep the Rame Centre flourishing, this includes
    • Local support services
    • Library
    • Post office
    • Rame Community Kitchen (Larder)
    • Community growing projects.
  • 30% to contribute to staff and general administration costs
  • Funding to maintain the Old Ship (Cawsand)
  • Funding to maintain Coastguard Cottages (Cawsand).

Most importantly the funding will provide us with ‘breathing space', during challenging times in the community sector, to ensure we can continue to provide the support to meet our community's needs for decades to come.
