  • PLEASE HELP SYRIAN REFUGEE KIDS IN JORDAN GET FURTHER EDUCATION AND CHANGE THEIR LIVES

Nine years ago we produced the first ever Arabic adaptation of the musical Oliver! With a cast of Syrian refugee children in Jordan, with the support of Sir Cameron Mackintosh. We shot a documentary, Where is Love? Which is coming out later this year.

Now the stars of that show are trying to pay their way through university or college - and so are the other kids who were in Oliver!

Fadi (22) who played Oliver, and Alaa (26) - one of Oliver’s gang - are at Al-Zaytouna university in Jordan.  Faten, Fadi’s little sister, (19) who was in the chorus, is hoping to read psychology and NOT enter an arranged marriage. Qusai, who played the Captain, is in his last year of High School and wants to read Film and Media Studies.

Fadi is at Jordan’s Al-Zaytoun university, studying Cyber-security – he is working as a barista to pay for his degree and wants to raise money for his sister Faten instead. His fees are £2800 a year.

Alaa (26) is studying architecture and engineering at Al Zaytoun – she has three years to pay for, at £2800 a year.

Faten (19) wants to study psychology – and escape an arranged marriage. £4,300 a year.

Qusai (19) is in his last year of High School and wants to read Film and Media studies. His fees will be around £2800 a year.

But these are only four of about 40 children. We want to help ALL the children who made Oliver! in Arabic the fantastic success it was get further education and change their lives - even if it's an English course, or an apprenticeship.

Life is still very tough for Syrian refugees in Jordan. Fadi and the others have come to terms with the fact that they will have to build their lives in Jordan, a long way from their homes, and their extended families. And their parents are very short of money. This education is the ladder that will help Fadi, Alaa, Faten, Qusai and the others lift their families out of poverty and give them back something of the lives they lost.

Any contributions will go towards these fees for this year.

If you want to help sponsor Fadi, Alaa, Faten or Qusai individually - or indeed any of the other children - please get in touch separately on [email protected]
