By reaching our Stretch target we would be able to invest in improvements to our website and begin to develop e-commerce and on-line sales. We would also seek to employ local talent to help with design and development of the website as well as facilitating additional sales and marketing activity.
We have been producing kombucha in the North-East of England since 2018 after discovering the great taste of this sparkling, fermented tea and learning of it's associated health benefits.
After a great start to our kombucha brewing operation at the historic Eagle Building (dating from the 1600's and one of Sunderland's earliest buildings) we have worked with some fantastic customers in the North-East; including Hotpod Yoga Sunderland, Port Bierhaus, Yoga X Life, Clean Bean in Seaham, Arch2 & Thali Tray in Newcastle's Ouseburn as well as the Free Trade Inn, The Tyne Bar and the Cluny.
We work in partnership with some amazing local North-East suppliers such as the Estate Tea Co. of Newcastle, who supply our Ethical Trade Partnership Tea, and Brewlab Ltd. Sunderland who have assisted with laboratory services and product testing as well as providing training in brewing and fermentation. We also share our production space with Sunshine Co-operative in Sunderland and they have been instrumental in helping our kombucha business start up.
We are now seeking to expand our brewing capacity, increase our ability to reach many more customers, nationally as well as locally, and to improve and enhance our production processes. This will be facilitated by the recruitment of a number of unemployed local youngsters as trainees in the areas of Social Media and Digital Marketing, Production and Sales and Administration.
We are currently fermenting in very small batches and need to increase our capacity (to small batch!) in order to become a thriving and viable business. The purchase of a unitank to allow chilling and carbonation would provide many benefits and process improvements. Furthermore a counter pressure bottle filler and a labelling machine would allow us to increase our output and speed up what can be a time-consuming process.
We've been resident in the Eagle Building since September 2019 and an opportunity has now arisen to further expand in this space. However, in order to make this possible we need to increase production. We're eagerly awaiting the details of the UK Government's Kickstart scheme which funds 6 months paid employment for those aged 16-24 . Your purchase of our exciting project rewards will enable us to provide training and employment for young people which will be an ongoing process alongside the continued success of our kombucha brewing adventure.
Thanks for looking! Stay fünky!
