The Acorn is a vibrant, creative centre for live arts for West Cornwall, with a reputation for diverse and innovative programming. We are a charity run almost exclusively by volunteers.
For over 40 years we have hosted a huge variety of acts, groups and projects including theatre, dance, music, youth, community engagement, comedy, children’s theatre, films and choirs, and its great facilities and atmosphere attract performers from the regular national and international tour circuits to play in this remote corner of Cornwall.
We believe that the performing arts enrich our lives and should be available to everyone.
To offer a wide range of performing arts events to local people at affordable prices; and to be provide a friendly space to nurture local talent, support the development of new work and host community and educational arts activities.
We also welcome a wide range of arts practitioners and art forms, including live music, theatre, poetry readings, story-telling, dance, film, lectures and the visual arts. We also host charity fundraising events, classes, workshops, children’s events, album launches, open or group meetings, markets, private parties and wedding receptions.
From international tours to school plays, the Acorn has a welcome for everyone interested in the arts. And we are working with schools and community partners to ensure that they means everyone.

It is nearly 20 years since the Acorn had funds to upgrade its technical equipment and it is now in need of urgent replacement.
In the past, we have received welcome support from our friends at Cornwall Council, the Theatre Trust, Penzance Town and Cultivator (a joint UK-EU fund) and are working hard to make improvements to keep the venue sustainable into the future.
