Help a Friend Recover from a Devastating Scam

We are reaching out to the kind-hearted community to raise funds for a dear friend who has fallen victim to a devastating scam.

Hi, I’m Andy, and I’m launching this fundraiser on behalf of a close friend who recently became the victim of a deeply manipulative scam.

It’s difficult to share, but important — not just to help them, but to remind others how vulnerable any of us can be, especially when we're trying to trust and navigate the world online.

What Happened

My friend was targeted by sophisticated scammers who gained access to their bank details, home address, phone number, and even parts of their National Insurance number. Using this sensitive information, the scammers pressured and manipulated my friend into sending money with the false promise that their stolen data and funds would be returned.In fear and confusion — and trusting the wrong people — they followed instructions to transfer money through their bank account into cryptocurrency wallets, believing this would resolve the situation. Instead, the scammers continued to demand more money, using fear tactics and false hope to maintain control. It was a heartbreaking cycle of manipulation.

The Bank Refused to Help

When my friend finally reached out to their bank for support, they were told that, unfortunately, the bank could not refund the money. Because it was sent to external wallets via crypto, it falls outside of their reimbursement policy.This has left my friend in an incredibly vulnerable and unstable financial situation, with no way to recover what they’ve lost.

Additional Steps to Report the Scam

To ensure that my friend’s case is properly investigated, we’ve learned that there’s a necessary fee of £250 to submit a complaint to the Financial Ombudsman and escalate the case to the financial authorities. This fee is a requirement to take the necessary legal and regulatory actions to address the scam. Unfortunately, it’s an additional financial burden that my friend cannot afford right now.

Your contributions will not only assist with covering financial losses but also help in taking the proper legal steps to report the fraud, potentially preventing others from being affected.

- Pay the £250 fee to submit a complaint to the Financial Ombudsman and authorities
