Aim

We are aiming to raise money to rebuild the Table on the Marsh, a public table on Walthamstow Marshes.

We want to go to something like this...

The table has been a much-loved place for people to eat, celebrate and enjoy the Walthamstow marshes for over 10 years. It has hosted all sorts of events from weddings, birthdays, photo shoots, music videos to board game tournaments and mad hatter’s tea parties.

Sadly 10 years of love has led to barbecue burns and broken benches to the point that the table is no longer useable.

The original team behind the table, artist Alex Parry and architect Tabitha Pope have come back together to plan and fundraise the repair work.

We plan to entirely re-build the table to make future repairs cheaper and easier by Lee Valley Parks so that the table can be used for many more decades.

We are hoping that the table will be ready for use this summer 2021!

What we are planning:

The table will be entirely rebuilt. The original design will be adapted to include new fixtures that will make it easier for Lee Valley Park to repair.

What the money will cover:

  • removal of the old table
  • new detail design to allow for easier replacement of elements when needed
  • construction and installation of new table and benches from European oak

If we raise…

  • £7,000 we will remake and install the table without patterns on the top. Half of this will cover the cost of the oak and fittings. The other half will cover the labour of a skilled joiner to fabricate and install the table on site.
  • £8,250 we will remake and install the table but also with additional new patterns routed into the top

Any support you can give is much appreciated!
