To raise money for Roma fleeing the war in Ukraine

by Romano Lav in Glasgow, Glasgow City, United Kingdom

 New stretch target

At the initiative of our young sessional worker Mariana, we have set up a Crowdfunder to raise funds for Roma families who are fleeing the war in Ukraine.

Mariana's family is from a small village in Slovakia called Pavlovce, and the village is currently sheltering and looking after people fleeing from Ukraine. They urgently need funds to help the families coming in as they have nothing and nowhere to go.

The money will go to the local Church that is providing food, clothing and shelter for the families.

Please watch the video that Mariana has made, and donate if you can.

EDITED UPDATE

Due to the absolutely incredible generosity and solidarity from people all over the world, we are able to raise so much more than we ever expected. We are able to send £1430 to the village in Poland, and anything raised over the £3,000 mark will go to the village in Slovakia, as there are many more displaced people there.

UPDATE

We would like to support a similar situation that we have just been informed about happening in our dear friend Sonia's home town in Poland, and anything we raise over the £1,450 mark will go to supporting her village with looking after displaced people.

Over £200 million has been raised from our crowd to support the projects they love! Plus tens of millions more unlocked by our partners.
