The International Anti-War Conference was an amazing show of solidarity and defiance. Help us meet the cost of hosting this incredible event
Italian dockers, German school students, French teachers, Spanish trade unionists, British anti-war activists all headed to London to stand against war and militarism. They spoke about how to stop the new drive to war and the austerity it's bringing with it. Almost three thousand were in attendance - it was the most significant anti-war conference in decades.
The conference adopted a statement which summarised the key issues and called for three international days of demonstration and action:
- A joint international day of demonstrations in support of a free Palestine on 10 October. - A day of action proposed by dockworkers in Italy, France and Greece, date to be confirmed. - An international weekend of demonstrations against militarisation, the drive to war and conscription on 21 and 22 November.But we still need to raise funds to cover the costs - for the hire of the iconic Central Hall, travel and hotel costs for speakers, the AV and translation costs.
