Who are we? Darwen Brass is a diverse group of musicians with mixed abilities. We are all volunteers and are a not for profit organisation. We have an open door policy ensuring we are available and accessible to all and delight in making and performing a varied selection of music from the more modern era through to Pop & Rock, Jazz & Swing all the way through to Classical and more traditional Brass Band pieces.
What rocked the boat?
Covid, like most, hit us hard. It diminished our income due to lockdown and social distancing, the bandroom stood empty for some time. We have been working hard to keep afloat and trying to catch up since resuming rehearsals, entertaining where we can and keeping spending to a minimum, but it is proving very difficult to catch up.
The realisation
We are very lucky to have a very supportive landlord who kept our rent to a minimum, but unfortunately like most things with the cost of living, our rent now has to be increased substantially which will certainly have a big impact us.
When we add this to our other ever increasing financial commitments we fear for our future and realise we need to plea for some help and support.
The plea
With your help, we could look to a brighter future and keep the Brass Band tradition alive for all to enjoy.
We will use any funds donated to help with our fundamental costs i.e. rent, heating, insurance, music, uniforms, instrument repair etc.
No matter how big or small, any donations would be greatly received and will help to keep us existing for future generations.
