Help us raise funds for "SEBASTIAN MORO, EL CAMINANTE" European tour of acclaimed documentary tracing a journalist’s killing in Bolivia’s 2019 coup d’état
The brutal murder of Argentinian journalist Sebastián Moro in La Paz, in 2019 by right-wing paramilitaries shocked the nation and the world. His story is the subject of an acclaimed new documentary, Sebastián Moro, El Caminante (The Walker), which will receive European screenings in six countries early this year.
Organised by Wiphalas across the World and supported by the Peace and Justice Project, the solidarity European tour of Sebastián Moro, El Caminante (The Walker) will run from 20 January to 11 February 2024.
Sebastian Moro, El Caminante (The Walker) traces the life and legacy of courageous Argentinian journalist Sebastián Moro, and the circumstances of his death. Moro, the editor of Bolivia’s Prensa Rural, was the first to alert the world of the coup d'état against President Evo Morales in November 2019. He would also become one of the coup’s first victims, murdered by paramilitary forces that attacked political figures, journalists and civilians alike.
During the seven-date European tour, director María Laura Cali will present the film at the European Parliament in Brussels, London, Paris, Geneva, Amsterdam and Madrid. Post-screening discussions will feature figures including former UK Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn MP, human rights campaigner Stella Assange, and Manu Pineda, Member of the European Parliament (Spain, Izquierda Unida). The director and Moro’s family will also meet with parliamentarians, local leaders, communities and activists.
As journalists worldwide are being silenced, attacked, imprisoned and killed in unprecedented numbers, Sebastian Moro, El Caminante (The Walker) is a moving and revealing portrait of the price paid by one man to alert the world to injustice.
Any donation, small or big, will be appreciated.
Jallalla Sebastian Moro!
