Hello Everyone. As a mature student I need some help funding a GIS course to help me get my foot on the Ecology job ladder.

Thank you clicking on my page. My name is Amy, I am 32 and I live in Edinburgh. In 2008 I gradutaed from Napier University with a 2:1 in Animal Biology. Since then I have worked in jobs that have kept me afloat but found that for me to actually have a job I am passionate about I would need to do further study. As a mature student (!) who has studied before I have found funding a problem. I could not afford at all to stop working to study full time so I am now considering doing distance courses online. Even for doing a few modules these courses will cost £850 plus I would need to buy the software.

GIS is software that a lot of ecologist need knowledge of these days. This was not covered in my original degree. In fact you can do a whole 4 year degree in this subject! I, however, would just like to have some formal training in this so I can get my foot in the door and have some advantage over other applicants. The world of Ecology/Biology is tough, so the more you can offer the better. Despite my sunny disposition i have yet to win over any future employer :)
So to help me gain these modules I need a little help. This is where you lovely people come in.
