Aim
We fully fund the only CGD Clinical Nurse Specialist. To continue this vital support for those with this rare disorder, we need more funds.
The CGD Society is a charity dedicated to supporting families and individuals affected by Chronic Granulomatous Disease (CGD), a rare immune disorder. CGD can make even everyday infections dangerous, and families often face long hospital stays, complex treatments, and emotional strain.
About the team and our idea
Our team is passionate about making life safer and more manageable for people living with CGD. One of the key ways we do this is through our nursing service, which provides expert advice, ongoing support, and guidance to families navigating the challenges of CGD. Our nurse offers practical help with treatment, infection prevention, and emotional support, ensuring families feel confident and less isolated.
Our vision
Our vision is a world where every family affected by CGD has access to the expert care and support they need - when they need it. We want to expand our nursing service so it can reach more families, provide faster responses, and offer additional resources for both medical and emotional support.
How we will use the money raised
The funds raised will go directly into strengthening our nursing service. This could include:
- Increasing the number of nursing hours available to families
- Funding specialist training for our nurse to stay up-to-date with the latest CGD treatments
- Developing new resources and support tools for families at home
- Covering travel or equipment costs so our nurse can support families more effectively
