Your support makes a difference
Help my family remain in the UK after I was made redundant from my lecturer position at the University of Essex and face legal costs.
Help My Family Stay in the UK and Rebuild Our Future

My name is Pablo Alberto Baisotti. I am a Senior Lecturer currently living in Colchester with my wife and our two children, aged 11 and 15.
In February 2024, I moved to the United Kingdom after accepting what I understood to be a permanent academic position at the University of Essex. My family joined me in March 2025 so that we could build our future together in this country.
Relocating internationally was not a decision we took lightly. We left behind our home, our professional networks, and the stability we had built over many years because we believed we were making a long-term commitment to life in the UK.
Unfortunately, I have now been informed that my position has been made redundant and that my employment will end on 31 July 2026.
Why We Need Help
This situation affects much more than my employment.
I hold a Skilled Worker Visa, and my wife and children depend on my immigration status. The loss of my job places our ability to remain in the United Kingdom at risk.
My children have adapted to new schools, new friends, and a new country. My wife has made significant personal and professional sacrifices to support our family’s move. Together, we have invested our savings, our efforts, and our hopes in building a future here.
Today, that future is uncertain.
Our Goal
Our goal is simple: to remain together in the United Kingdom while I secure new employment and protect our legal rights.
I remain fully committed to continuing my academic career in the UK and contributing to British higher education. I am actively applying for new positions and pursuing every available avenue to ensure my family can continue living here.
This campaign is intended to provide temporary support during an exceptionally difficult and unexpected period.
How The Funds Will Be Used
The funds raised will be used for:
Housing Costs
Approximately £1,800 per month to maintain stable accommodation for my family.
Essential Living Expenses
Approximately £800 per month to cover food, transport, utilities, school-related costs, and other basic necessities.
Legal Fees
Legal advice and representation relating to employment and immigration matters, which may be necessary to protect our rights and our future in the UK.
Any funds raised will be used exclusively for these purposes while I search for new employment opportunities.
Why Your Support Matters
Your support will help us maintain stability during a period of uncertainty and allow me to focus on securing a new position and protecting my family’s future.
Whether through a donation or by sharing this campaign with others, every contribution will make a meaningful difference.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for helping us through this challenging moment.
