From Destitution to Dignity

Aim: We are urgently fundraising to ensure no woman in our network is left to go hungry, sleep rough, or suffer alone.

Right now, 35 women in our network are living in destitution with no access to asylum support, welfare benefits, or public housing. Life in the UK asylum system is already harsh. Without even a basic safety net, it becomes unbearable. 

Why We Need Your Help

Throughout the year, the Migrant Destitution Fund is a vital lifeline offering emergency support to women in our network. But today, the fund is paused, leaving many women without any source of income or means to meet their most basic needs. 

The Reality of Destitution 

Research by Women for Refugee Women found: 

• 95% of destitute asylum-seeking women were hungry 
• 25% had been raped or sexually assaulted while sleeping rough 
• 95% reported feeling depressed, and 1 in 3 had attempted suicide 

These are not just statistics, these are real women in our community, facing unimaginable hardship every day.

What Your Support Will Do

Your donation will help us provide: 

• Culturally appropriate food 
• Essential hygiene products 
• Safe places to sleep 
• Emergency transport and communication costs

Every Contribution Matters 

• £5 could pay for a woman’s bus fare to reach support 
• £25 could help feed three women and their children 
• £100 could support one woman for 10 weeks 

We are aiming to raise £2000 to continue supporting the women in our network while the fund is paused.
