From Albion to Hibernia
Calling all music fans! This humble music journalist before you was invited on a tour of Ireland with a very talented, super cool band I happen to be friends with. The thing was they were going to be supporting one of the UK's best bands who had recently had a number 1 album. I was beyond excited when I was told I could document it. The exact words were "It'll be like Larry Kane and The Beatles!". I was sold. Tickets and hostels were booked.
So I went to Ireland on my own and met with the band each night in a different town. I was suffering badly from Imposter Syndrome. I'm really a working mum of 2 with zero self esteem. However, I did it. And I'm proud. And I want the world to see the resulting film. But.... I am struggling to edit it in line with the vision in my head. I know it could be great but I need help to make it great. Put simply, I need a film editor. Being a supporter of the creative industries, I understand this will cost money. Once someone clever has been employed and turned my jumbled clips into a masterpiece, I'd like to hold a screening and give folk a chance to see the result on the big screen and raise funds for creative projects.
The band deserve the exposure after performing an incredible set night after night and fans of the a certain Margate-based band with a reformed front man will enjoy a watch too. The music industry is broken but in my small way, I want to help unsigned artists and small venues stay alive. This film has the power to do that.
I know it won't win a BAFTA but it is incredibly important to me and the band and I'd be forever grateful for any contributions towards this film project entitled 'From Albion to Hibernia'.
