Create a site with little to no community guidelines. Removal of posts according to law. User personalised filters to cater to preferences.
In this generation social media rules all and often dictates to many what is fact and what is fiction through information bias. Modern social media sites seem almost tyrannical in their approach to users, removing any posts that may not fit within a very specific set of guidelines, sometimes even deleting posts that do not violate these rules. Moreover, some political pages and news channels are pushed into feeds irrespective of whether the user has followed this media or not simply due to the host social media sites’ lust for marketing revenue. Instead of issuing rules with an iron fist, Fringe would have users choose from a series of filters, in essence a personal set of guidelines, in which users can decide for themselves which kind of content they would or would not like to see, be that 18+ material (which Twitter does not ban) or politically controversial accounts (which Facebook and Twitter both ban with a strong political bias). Instead of using cookies to suggest ads that aren’t always relevant to users, ads appear in line with the personal preferences of the individual (deciding what they do and do not see) and in accordance with their settings. Fringe strongly believes in freedom of speech and aims to bring people together through a mutual respect of one another’s opinions without fear of the modern “Cancel culture” or a monopolisation of biased media posts.
