FHFJ raising funds for Heart Foundation Jamaica

Aim

Our aim is to raise funds to purchase medical equipment for JHF island wide screening programme also towards their health education project.

Friends of the Heart Foundation of Jamaica (FHFJ) is a charity based in the UK that fundraises to support the Jamaica Heart Foundation. FHFJ was founded in 1980 by Mrs. Iris Gordon & has been a Registered Charity since 1984.   Due to the Coronavirus19, all our fundraising events planned for this year have been cancelled. However, the need for the work that the Heart Foundation of Jamaica carries out has not diminished.

The Heart Foundation of Jamaica aims is to improve the life chances of Jamaicans by reducing the morbidity and mortality from cardiovascular disease. This is done through screening, advocating, treatment education, and research.

Over the years we have raised funds to send medical equipment to the Heart Foundation of Jamaica, such as Cholesterol testing machines, Blood Pressure machines, and ECG machines and in 2018 we sent a defibrillator.

We have also been able to fund 4 mobile units which are used to assist staff to visit areas around the island to hold health assessments and screening clinics. On an annual basis, we contribute towards the health education officer's salary.

We would like to continue to fundraise to assist the Jamaica Heart Foundation and hope that you will be able to support them in the vital work that they carry out.
