Aim
Funding for the setting up of a Community Benefit Society that will enable us to operate both Post Office and shop
In November 2024 a small group of Silverdale residents began to work out what would be necessary to keep the Silverdale Post Office open once Ann, the current postmistress, retires in 2025. A Steering Group was formed to establish a Community Benefit Society (CBS) to run the Post Office business and the associated retail shop. The CBS will be a democratic membership organisation, owned by the local community, and able to donate any profits to local causes. It is intended that two small teams of volunteers will maintain and develop the current Post Office and retail services.
As a necessary first step, we established a new Unincorporated Association called Friends of Silverdale Community Post Office needed to raise the necessary set-up funds. This page has been setup to allow donations to support our setting up costs.
