Aim

To promote and distribute innovative clean water solutions globally and save lives

Fresh2o has helped to build over 120 Wells and Rain Harvesting tanks in Madagascar and Uganda, and helped to save over 122,000 lives.

Since we started raising awareness in 2004 the number of children dying every day from dirty water as decreased from 5,000 to 4,000.

Fresh2o wants to help get this figure to zero. We can not do this by donations alone so we are building business so that we can make a profits, re-invest this into helping more people and give people a Hand-UP rather than a Hand-OUT.

Our policy is never to just give or build something (this is proven time and time again to not work), but make sure the local people undertake to be educated about clean water, sanitation and hygiene and take ownership of their Well, Pump or Water Filter. Remember how we are all taught to wash our hands after going to the toilet so we don’t spread bacteria, well it is as simple as that, we have to educate other people who do not realize this, and to keep their excrement away from drinking water to avoid contamination!

Fresh2o is represented by Candice Farmer and Darius Campbell. They are seeking to raise £50,000 to initiate the global sales development of an innovative and ground-breaking portable water filtration and purification system manufactured in the US by Sawyer Inc. They are working with Tony Male representing Sawyer Inc. at Fresh2o Sawyer. It is envisaged that there will be five Regions established over a period of 5 years, to scale-up the operation worldwide.

Over 4,000 children die each day from the lack of clean water and sanitation and some 2.6 Billion people (over one-third of the Earth’s population) do not have access to any form of sanitation or fresh water at all. This is something that we all have to do whatever we can to eradicate and customers who buy from us will be doing their part to help. Famous celebrities including Keira Knightley, Sir Nick Faldo and Janet Jackson have all participated in helping Fresh2o achieve its goals and there are over 60 celebrities on board. See www.fresh2o.org for more.

Every £1 pledged leads to £4 in economic and life-saving benefits to the field

Who We Are  Fresh2o started campaigning a decade ago to get clean water, sanitation and hygiene education to people around the world who do not have it, 783 million people do not have access to clean water and almost 2.5 billion do not have access to adequate sanitation. This is a human right.

Our Mission is to reduce poverty, improve health and prevent death by enabling the provision of clean water for drinking and sanitation purposes globally.

"We were too late to save him, lets not be too late for all these other children, 4 children die every single minute from dirty water diseases. YOU CAN HELP by supporting this project, thank you!" Sophie Anderton in Madagascar

REPORT 6 MONTHS AFTER INSTALLING A WELL DONATED BY JANET JACKSON IN MADAGASCAR

Tearomihila Secondary School:

➢ The well works very well, the water is clear and abundant.

➢ The school ensures the pump is locked (with chain & padlock) when not in use; the local maintenance technician is the key-keeper.

➢ The initial fence around the well will soon be replaced by a sturdier one: brick pillars in the corners linked by a wooden fence. The beneficiaries are undertaking this at the moment.

➢ The water management committee is currently collecting membership fees.

➢ The well is chlorinated monthly and cleaned at the end of every week.

All students and teachers that we met with attest to the following :

➢ The incidence of diarrhoeal disease has dramatically reduced since the wells were put in place.

➢ The time taken to collect water has significantly reduced, therefore increasing productivity. For example, before students at the Vohitsaoka secondary school took about 16 minutes to collect water but now it only takes a minute.

THESE AMAZING FILTERS  Fresh2o has teamed up with Sawyer Europe. For almost 30 years, Sawyer Inc. have been dedicated to offering more effective and reliable products for outdoor protection. Using science and rigorous testing, they have developed the most advanced and easy to use solutions in water treatment. The proprietary hollow fibre membrane filters are small, portable, easy-to-use, reliable, and inexpensive.

These filters are certified for ABSOLUTE microns making it impossible for harmful bacteria, protozoa, or cysts like E. coli, Giardia, Vibrio cholera and Salmonella typhi (which cause Cholera and Typhoid) to pass through. Just drink: no pumping, no chemicals, no waiting, no worries! Incredibly fast flow rate, simple to use, and each filter can be backwashed to extend its life and are guaranteed to clean 1 million gallons of water! That is more than a life times water for one person.

For this specific project we are looking to raise £50,000 for Fresh2o Awareness. The funds will be utilised to initiate the global sales development of an innovative and ground-breaking portable water filtration and purification system manufactured in the US by Sawyer Inc. It is envisaged that there will be five Regions established over a period of 5 years, to scale-up the operation worldwide.

Target Markets According to UNICEF in a study performed in January 2008 “Promotion of Household Water Treatment and Safe Storage in UNICEF Wash Program”, unsafe drinking water, along with poor sanitation and hygiene are the main contributors to an estimated 4 billion cases of diarrheal disease annually, causing more than 1.5 million deaths, mostly among children under 5 years of age (WHO 2005).

Considerable progress is being made in expanding the coverage of “improved water supplies” such as protected wells and springs, boreholes and household connections and treating water at the household level has been shown to be one of the most effective and cost-effective means of preventing waterborne disease in development and emergency settings

Based on the evidence, UNICEF has made household water treatment and safe storage an important program priority.

Our customer and target market categories are selected based on the provision of improving fresh water supply for various user groups and the categories are illustrated as follows:

Military & Field Workers  Unsafe sources of drinking water are a threat to the health and operational readiness of military forces in emergency situations, those working on remote farms and in any situation where drinking water is obtained remotely from untreated sources (e.g., rivers, lakes, etc.). Currently, many of these users are issued with chemicals that are expensive and make the water taste unpalatable as well as not being as effective as the Sawyer filters.

Charities and NGO’s  Water is a strategic commodity in all developing countries, with poverty and current poor economic conditions all developing governments subsidise water cost to consumers however this method is based on traditional water treatment projects, which requires initial funding for infrastructure, and subsequent operational funding. This technology does not require infrastructure, or operational funds and government can continue to subsidise consumer cost of water treatment at much less cost

Existing water distribution networks in most developing countries are very old and cross contamination is very high and chlorination for the piping network is not an option while water reservoirs are another target to meet with International standards.

In Cities the water pressure in the water network is weak as a result of the horizontal urbanisation of the cities , which lead to people having individual water tanks with pumps to store their own waters, such water tanks are usually highly contaminated.

Holidaymakers  These filters are not only for hardened adventure holidayers, or Himalayan trekkers. Even a family, travelling for a week to a sun spot in Europe, or a couple on a weekend city break, can save themselves the time, money and aggravation that finding, buying and carrying bottled water back to their hotel can bring.

WE REALLY NEED YOUR HELP NOW TO GIVE CHILDREN A LIFE SAVING START TO LIFE. EVEN £5 WILL HELP. BE PROUD OF WHATEVER YOU CHOOSE TO INVEST AND WE HOPE YOU ENJOY YOUR REWARD. THANK YOU!
