We aim to rebuild momentum and develop stronger, more resilient communities who take control of their physical and mental health.
Since the pandemic we have had over 90% of our funding cut.
The funding we receive allows us to train volunteers, deliver new exciting and inclusive projects, and provide ongoing support and engagement with you, our community members.
Without your support we will have huge difficulties rebuilding and delivering the projects we have gradually grown over the past 3 years. You
At Freemoovement we train, educate and inspire communities to use local spaces to benefit their health and well-being. Through regular fitness sessions, communities are more active and drawn closer together through a desire for health improvement while tackling some modern-day health challenges including social isolation, poor mental health and sedentary lifestyle.
Our vision: We want every community to be able to take control and responsibility for improving their physical health and mental well-being by engaging with each other in their local open spaces.
We are aiming to train 10 additional volunteers who will engage and inspire their communities to get active. These volunteers will be trained as YMCA level 2 community activators. As a result of the pandemic many people’s health, both physical and mental, have suffered dramatically causing numerous long-term issues such as obesity, depression and anxiety. By training more volunteers and empowering communities to lead their own projects, we will help reduces obesity levels and improve mental wellbeing. There has never be a more vital time for communities to take control of their health and support each other in achieving their goals.
Since lockdown ended, we have slowly and safely started to get back to supporting our volunteers and members by delivering sessions in local parks. At each stage we have planned for everyone's safety. We are really pleased with how things have gone, however, we are only achieving a fraction of the impact we were able to have before lockdown.
Projects such as FREEWHEELIN' and FREEMOOVEMENT Light (FLIGHT) have been put on hold until we can again grow our volunteer capacity to support these projects in a safe and supportive way.
We know how valued we are by our attendees and how much pride people have in wearing our t-shirts to sessions, as well as doing other physical activities.
With this in mind, we have designed a new t-shirt that you can buy to help us raise funds to train new volunteers, cover ongoing cost such as insurance and music licences, and buy replacement kit we will use when it's safe to do so.
We are also hoping we will get match funding from organisations that pledge to support community health organisations.
We have set the target fairly high and hope you will support us. We have also set a stretch target that we hope to achieve through match funding.
Since lockdown has ended we have had over 170 individuals return to our sessions, and had 72 new people register, clearly showing the high demand.
If you haven't managed to return yet then you can still get a T-shirt and show the support for the services you have received in the past. It may even inspire you to come back. Lastly, if you have never been to session before, what have you been doing? Buy a T-shirt and get involved!
Community groups such as ours are going to become more vital as we come out of the pandemic and start to count the full personal, economic and social impact, especially on the most vulnerable members in society.
We really hope you are able to support us in reaching our target and will soon wear your freemoovement "FINALLY UNLOCKED" t-shirt with pride, knowing you have secured our future and made a commitment to improving your health.
Thank you - Paul. x
