The aim of our project is to provide a home for 10 addicts new in recovery, providing a safe family atmosphere to learn to live again.
Hello, my name is Henry Martin and I am Recovered from a seemingly hopeless state of mind and body!
I am also a proud father, husband, son, brother & friend. I am a qualified life coach (www.ahacoaching.online ) and Prospect Hill trained Recovery Assistant.
Life hasn't always been this good. Several years ago, I was living on the streets of London with a crack cocaine and heroin addiction. I was hopeless and thought that I was destined to die due to this disease.
I was quite literally lifted from the gutter by the most amazing, loving, and kind family & friends, and so my last shot at recovery began. I had been to rehab before and relapsed almost immediately. In all honesty, I wasn't hopeful.
I had left such a huge path of destruction in the space where my life used to be, when I left rehab previously, I found myself overwhelmed, restless, irritable, and discontent. Quite honestly I was full of fear. It felt like walking into your home straight after a tornado had hit with the idea of "tidying up". I have spoken to and worked with a great number of addicts who have felt the same.
This time was different. I had the support I needed to learn to live again. I had the opportunity to live in a sober house! I used this time to go through a 12-step spiritual program & life coaching journey that transformed my world inside out.
I was so blown away by the process that I set about learning all I needed to learn to help other lost souls. I want to help addicts and alcoholics, whose self-esteem has been destroyed through this disease. Those who can see no way out.
Enya & I want to help people find this freedom. One that happens through an awakening by taking and living all 12 steps every day. The combination of 12-step recovery, accompanied by life coaching, means the person in recovery can learn to start building a life beyond their wildest dreams, and learn to find equilibrium in all areas of their life. This is certainly our experience.
We want to provide a safe holistic Sober House with a family atmosphere where addicts can continue to heal and learn to grow, cook, laugh, cry, confront, get vulnerable and find purpose and meaning in life. We will provide daily meditation & breathwork sessions. Art classes, DBT (Dialectical behavior therapy) skills classes, & one-on-one Mindset & Life Coaching are provided weekly. We understand the importance of the unity between the mind, body & spirit.
We have found a beautiful house in Newlands, Cape Town to take over managing and need help with start-up costs to get the house ready to launch in July.
