World Cafe, Training Kitchen & Free Meal Vouchers

Aim

This summer we want to offer free meal vouchers to families attending our food bank and support adults in work-based training in the kitchen

Voices in Exile are collaborating with the Real Junk Food Project to provide a safe and welcoming café for families, and a kitchen training space for those looking for practical catering experience.

We’re campaigning to raise money to support the families who access the Voices in Exile food bank and who may be particularly affected by the loss of free school meals over the summer. 

The summer kitchen will be run by a team of professional chef trainers from RJFP who will collaborate with volunteers to create a changing menu of traditional dishes from around the world. The café will operate as a safe, inclusive and dignified space for people accessing the food bank, which supports around 115 people each week.

The World Cafe and Training Kitchen will run on Mondays for 5 weeks and participants will gain experience in food preparation, cooking at scale, plating, coffee making, counter service, table service, kitchen porter tasks and customer service.

Your donation will help us provide meal vouchers for families who need extra support, while also creating a structured, work-based learning experience for adults seeking practical catering experience. Every contribution helps us offer immediate relief and build longer-term opportunities through food, training and community support. Any extra funds donated to this campaign will go to our food bank.
