What is the project?
For the past three and a half years I have been running training courses for improvisers from around the world with the aim of improving disability access and inclusion in the improv community. As a chronically ill performer, it is important to me that improv is inclusive of everyone
As my local consultancy workload increases, I want to make sure all the knowledge and skills included in my courses available for anyone who needs it. As a disabled freelancer I can't afford to do this without support. I am asking members of the improv community to donate a small amount of money each, to fund my time to put all these resources into multiple accessible forms, and host host them online where everyone can access them for free.
The Resources
There are three courses that I will be converting into resources:
-Supporting Disabled, Chronically Ill, and Neurodivergent Improvisers: This course is for improv schools, groups, and teachers.
-Playing Alongside Disabled, Chronically Ill, and Neurodivergent Improvisers: This course is for individual improvisers at any level.
-Accessible Social Media Basics: This course teaches you how to market your courses and shows on social media in an accessible way.
I am aiming to create these resources in text, video, and audio forms, to make them accessible to as many people as possible.
Course Reviews
“Create Access has been an integral component of Highwire Improv's training and development programs for years. They provide direct, practical, and kind training about crucial topics in inclusion and support, and their training is rooted in the specifics of improv instruction and performance, which is incredibly rare. The specificity Create Access is able to provide ensures that our management and instructors are well prepared for a wide range of needs across disabled, chronically ill, and neurodivergent community members. “
