Aim
We want to ensure that everyone has access to games - tabletop, roleplay and boardgames - for education, for mental health and for fun!
Character Creation Roleplay is the brainchild of Chris Nicholls, a life long boardgamer and D&D fan. He could see the benefits of using these gaming systems as educational tools, as well as the social and community benefits of bringing people together. He even wrote his degree thesis on this topic!
Character Creation Roleplay was set up to give everyone, regardless of background or income, the space to play, learn, and make friends in a welcoming and relaxed environment. We offer sessions as cheaply as possible, or free when we can, but there are still bills to pay. This is where you come in - with your help, we will be able to continue to offer heavily subsidised sessions so no one is excluded!
There's so many things happening, there's something for everyone!
Paint and Play - practice painting minatures and learn the basics of tabletop gaming. With your help, we can offer the materials and models for free.
Free games day - a regular, all day session with access to hundreds of boardgames for all ages and abilities. With your help we can continue to offer this for free, and offer even more sessions.
Specialist days - like our pokemon, or Cludeo themed challenges, as well as our popular construction club where budding engineers can delve into our huge crate of lego to practice making the buildings of tomorrow. With your help we can ensure that they never run out of new materials to play, grow and learn. We can keep the costs down so that no one need miss out regardless of family income.
U16 Dungeons & Dragons - more than just having fun exploring mythical worlds, it also teaches children numeracy, literacy, imagination play, cooperation, and leadership. With your help we can ensure that children that might struggle in traditional educational settings are able to learn and thrive whilst gaining the social, leadership, and soft skills that they will need to on into the workplace as they grow up.
Character Creation Roleplay is specifically created to be inclusive, and works with people with a range of educational and mental health needs. All our staff are DBS checked and vetted, to ensure the safety of the children present. But with so much on offer we need help your to afford storage, as well as equipment and trained staff.
