Free Derry Wall

Aim
To help restore Free Derry Corner.
◼️Derry people can you give a helping hand?◼️
Many of you know I’ve been one of the artists who has used the Free Derry Wall to shine a light on injustice here in Ireland and across the world. Free Derry Wall has always belonged to the people, especially to those who struggle for justice.
For generations it has stood as a reminder of who we are, what we’ve come through, and how our struggles connect with others facing oppression and injustice everywhere.
In recent times the wall is showing its age, and I’m looking for community help to restore it.
For proper restoration it will need more than a simple repaint. The surface will need to be carefully stripped back to the original brickwork, fully replastered, and treated with a protective water barrier to prevent moisture from penetrating and causing long-term structural damage.
The flagpole has also suffered from exposure and will need replaced.
I’m asking neighbours, local tradespeople, artists, labourers, and anyone who cares about protecting the spirit of Free Derry Wall to join a community‑led restoration.
Why it matters:
The graffiti that became known around the world was created in defiance of the state. It should be restored in that same spirit — by the community, not by state funding.
