Aim

Freddy Martinez is currently suing the Chicago Police Department to release records of cases where the StingRay was used.

How would you feel if you find the police has been spying on you using your own cellphone? You'd probably feel angry, terrified and violated, just like you would if you have a stalker that won't leave you alone. Guess what – the cops have been doing exactly that, spying on you using your mobile phone, by using devices like StingRay. Local activists like Freddy Martinez, an IT worker from Chicago, are helping to stop these illegal police surveillances in the courtroom.

StingRays are designed to simulate cellphone towers. They collect any data from all cellphones within its one-mile radius, particularly your location, the phones and calls you make and receive, and the people you interact with through these texts and calls. The cops have been using StingRays in secret, and it took a lawsuit from Freddy Martinez to drag out this secret.

Freddy Martinez is currently suing the Chicago Police Department to release records of cases where the StingRay was used. This lawsuit will help the public determine the extent of how the cops have kept watch over us without our consent. We can do our part by donating to Martinez' legal fund to keep the fight going and protect our constitutional right to privacy.
