We are a group of young people who have come out of their disadvantage and shadows and into the light of hope for a better future for ourselves and other young people faced with similar challenges.
To this end we created the FRED youth-led campaign standing for Fairness - Respect - Equality - Dignity for all youth. We are its Youth Management Board.
FRED's vision is to:
- Promote the values of Fairness, Respect, Equality and Dignity (FRED), as they impact on young people with a focus on those who tend to me excluded from democratic processes.
- Directly support young people through training, internships, advice, volunteering, educational programmes and by engaging them in social action projects.
- Dispel stereotypes about young people with an emphasis on those who are at risk of being marginalised, disadvantaged or excluded due to their background, race, mental health, socio-economic status, gender, physical abilities or sexual orientation.
- Address “disadvantage thinking” and redistribute power within society, strengthening democracy, the youth-led sector and civil society.
FRED is run by volunteers exclusively and we are in need of funds to support the costs of running our campaign. This includes paying for much needed essentials such as food, travel and childcare as well as supporting our young people faced with mental health and physical barriers. Moreover, we want to run community events both in person and online to bring young people and our communities together to achieve our vision.
How can you play your part?
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target and make this project a reality!
1. Make a pledge to support us. Momentum is the key to our success!
2. Spread the word and share our project on social media!
3. Offer rewards if you are a local business and we can give you a shout out! We're always looking for small prizes, vouchers, etc.
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser, hit the "contact project" button at the top of the page and let us know. It only takes a couple minutes to set up, and no bank details required. Just a fun idea!
