WASH The World of Disease, a new learning programme in the UK to help build a water secure future for health and the environment.
FRANK Water was set up with the aim of providing safe drinking water to the 663 million people worldwide who still lack access to this basic human right. Since then, the charity has worked alongside some of the world's most deprived communities in India and Nepal, helping them to secure clean water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH).

Education is at the heart of our work.
Since 2005, FRANK Water has provided safe water and sanitation for nearly 400,000 people in 549 communities. By doing so, we have helped thousands of families stay safe from disease, improved health and hygiene in hundreds of villages and provided girls with vital access to education.

With your support, we want to do more, right here in the UK.
The Coronavirus pandemic has underlined just how crucial clean water, good hygiene and handwashing is. With unlimited safe water on tap, it’s easy for us to feel safe. But water scarcity is a growing problem here too. Bristol Water forecasts that as soon as 2025, demand will outstrip supply.
We want to engage the next generation to ensure a water secure, climate resilient future. We’re launching an educational programme to educate the next generation on how our everyday actions have an impact on global water resources, encourage better habits and inspire them to take action.

We will bring together all of our resources to produce a clear and impactful educational programme that inspires the next generation to look for solutions to these issues.
We’ll develop thought provoking, innovative, educational resources which will empower adults and children with the knowledge they need to change the way they understand and use water.
We’ll deliver a truly accessible programme that fits any educational setting. It’ll be free to use and will be delivered both physically as well as virtually across the UK - in schools, scout groups, at festivals and events and through our community partners.
We want to reach at least 10,000 children over the next three years.
Water is our most precious resource. This project is vital in order to sustain and improve the health of people and the planet and to inspire our local communities to create positive change for themselves and the world.
At the beginning of 2020, we launched our Water for the World pilot project - a series of interactive, face to face workshops for KS2 students in six UK schools. This pilot programme aimed to reach nearly 500 children, and indirectly benefit a further 2,400 peers and siblings. With practical demonstrations and workshops, plus additional follow-on exercises for the school, the programme offered an entire day of engaging activity, linked to the science and geography curriculum. The involvement of professional STEM volunteers gave the children the added opportunity to learn about the role of engineering in building WASH solutions, helping to broaden their horizons, raise aspirations and enhance their career-related learning.

Unfortunately, our schedule was cut short due to the Coronavirus pandemic. But with positive feedback from schools, practical hands-on experience and plenty of professional volunteer support, we’re in a strong position to develop our programme and roll out our offering across the country.
Just as our overseas work focuses on last-mile communities and those with fewer opportunities to access support, our UK programme will be inclusive and accessible to all. Specifically, we’ll focus on children who may have less access to learning opportunities outside of those offered by mainstream education, including those eligible for free school meals.
Thank you!
