I am raising money for a much needed hospital shed to house the sick and injured wild hedgehogs in Forth Hedgehog Hospitals care.
Forth Hedgehog Hospital is needing a new hospital shed this year. The charity rescues sick and injured wild hedgehogs ,nursing them back to health the to be returned to the wild.
The new shed will need ground prepared first then the new shed built. New up to standard cages to keep the patients safe will be purpose built.
Forth hedgehog Hospital is a small registered charity that has been running nearly 3 years now. In 3 years it has taken in around 350 hedgehogs, with 72% being returned to the wild. ranging from dog and garden machinery injured victims to tiny day old hoglets that have through some means been separated from their mother.
Daily care and treatment is overseen and mostly done by myself, Nadia. With nearly 9 years of looking after hedgehogs I try my best for every individual, the main aim being to get them back to the wild again and contributing to Britain's declining population of these charismatic little creatures. Daily care of the hedgehogs can be very emotionally and physically demanding and every hedgehog is an individual with different needs depending on what has brought it to the hospital. This can be that its been struggling through with a severe parasite infestation and infection, caught in discarded rubbish or an orphan that needs 24/7 feeds of special formula.
The charity also aims to raise awareness of hedgehogs and the dangers they face in our modern world. With badgers being their main natural predator , It is us humans that pose the next massive threat to hedgehogs. With our buildings, roads, destroying habitats and changes in how we live.
FHH aims to offer as much advice as best we can so garden owners can also help the wild population. So any questions please feel free to contact us.
In 2017 we are doing a major upgrade to the hospital due to a lot of damage through the years. We hope you will join our already large support network in this project. Your support is vital to helping these little creatures and I certainly couldn't have gotten as far as I have without your support so far. Thank you, Nadia and the spikies xx
