Veterinary funds for much loved dog, Marley.

Aim

Marley needs an operation on his knee and we're asking for help towards his veterinary bill. Every donation will be greatly appreciated.

MEET MARLEY

Marley is a 13 and a half year old Cairn Shitzu cross. He's a happy dog with a friendly loving nature, known by everyone in his village and much loved. He is still in great health, full of beans and keen to walk and run and play. For nearly all of his life he lived in the house next door to us. When his 'dad' died and his 'mum' became institutionalised due to ill health Marley moved in with us. That was 2 years ago.

MARLEY'S WAYS

Marley loves bones! He loves to bury things. He loves to chase and bark at big birds in the sky, especially seagulls, and at night he barks and chases planes. He sometimes barks at busy traffic, which is why I call him an eco-terrier. He loves to bark at safari animals on the TV. Marley loves to be held and carried.

MARLEY HURT HIS KNEE!

Marley and I regularly take several walks a day, his favourite being last thing at night. A few weeks ago during our night walk, he twisted his knee. He ran ahead as usual, sporting his fabulous glow collar, which enabled me to find him, standing still holding up his back leg. It turns out he had ruptured his cruciate ligament (footballer's knee!) and is now unable to put weight on his back leg. 

This is a doll's pram I picked up from the Raystede Charity Shop in Lewes, so we can still take brief walks together without taxing his damaged leg.

MARLEY'S OPERATION

Vets have assured us that surgery is the only way forward if he is to use his leg again, so he is now booked in for an operation. The prognosis is very positive and in all likelihood he'll regain the use of his leg in a few weeks and be able to run joyfully through fields for years to come. Being a small dog, in good general health, he has several more years in him yet.
