Lifting the curtain on political life in Ireland, Forever is Now offers unprecedented and independent* ‘fly-on-the-wall’ access to an inspirational, and often divisive, political leader’s final 18 months in government, as he pursues Ireland’s most ambitious climate agenda in a world that is burning.

The film recently premiered at Dublin International Film Festival and at Sheffield DocFest, and now, with your support, Guth Gafa ('captive voice' in Gaelic) want to bring it to cinemas, arts centres and community halls across Ireland and the UK, followed by conversations with the filmmakers, characters in the film, community leaders and local voices.

We are also creating a programme of free screenings for students and young people, giving them space to engage with the issues that will shape their futures.

From IFTA-winning director Neasa Ní Chianáin and BAFTA-winning producer, David Rane, the film follows Irish minister Eamon Ryan and his team as they move from cabinet rooms and international climate negotiations to the realities of the loneliness of public service and vicious social media backlash. Ryan’s connection with his autistic son shows the personal stakes and humanity behind his unwavering pursuit of a better world.

This is About Much More Than Politics.

Forever is Now comes at a critical time when people's trust in mainstream politics and institutions is at an all time low, and public debate is increasingly shaped by social media disinformation. Forever is Now asks an important question: how do we find common ground on the issues that affect us the most?

Today, anti-climate and anti-state messaging go hand-in-hand. Faith in democracy is being actively and intentionally broken down by the populist right across Europe, and social media is the primary tool in this assault.

Social media has fundamentally changed how we communicate our ideas and opinions on the environment and has allowed a well-organised, right-wing minority to project enough content to muddy the reality of environmental politics.

Forever is Now explores climate action, democracy, community and belonging, while offering a hopeful reminder that, despite our differences, the vast majority of people (82% in Ireland) share a desire to protect the places they love and leave a better future for the next generation.

Support the film. Share the story. Start the conversation.

The First Step in Fighting Climate Change is Taking Back Democracy.

Every town and valley across Ireland and the UK will be affected by climate change. Our goal is to start and extend the conversation, giving communities an equal footing with climate decision-makers - to demand action that works for them.

Guth Gafa is an Irish non-profit using the power of documentary storytelling to drive real social change, and with your support, we will bring Forever is Now to audiences across Ireland and the UK, followed by in-depth discussions with the filmmakers, the main characters in the film, community leaders and local voices.

Your support will also allow Guth Gafa to offer our free screenings for students and young people, who are rarely given a voice or a platform to discuss these issues.

You Can Help Bring this Vital Conversation to Every Community.

This campaign is powered by people.

Funds raised through this Crowdfunder will be spent exclusively on marketing and promoting the release of the film in Ireland and the UK, with 50% of every donation going towards our 2,000 free tickets for youth.

Whether you can contribute £5, £50, £500 or anything in between, every donation helps fund community screenings, audience discussions and free tickets for young people. (NB:  Crowdfunder operates in Stg£ and the tip they request is optional - you can enter 'zero' in the Enter Custom Tip link)

This isn't just about supporting a film. It's about creating spaces for conversation, understanding and community participation at a time when they are needed more than ever.

If you believe in the power of storytelling to bring people together, please contribute whatever you can. Every euro helps put this film in front of new audiences and sparks conversations that matter.
