This is FolkEast
FolkEast is an independent, family run, family friendly annual festival held at Glemham Hall in Suffolk. We set out in 2012 with the aim to bring together like minded people to enjoy quality folk music in beautiful surroundings for three days in August. It has grown to be so much more.
We now also provide a platform for small local businesses, food and drink providers, artists, crafts people, heritage groups, and charities to come together and share their skills and creativity with festival goers. There are talks, demonstrations, instrument makers, sessions, singalongs and workshops for all ages. The food is locally sourced and prepared, the 16 kegged beers served in the 3 onsite "pubs"are locally brewed and all at a fair price. What started as a bit of music in a field has become a vibrant, community who come to work, play and relax together for three days each year... as well enjoy quality music in beautiful surroundings. Suffolk has its very own Brigadoon.
2020 was looking to be our best year yet. However, as with so many of our fellow festival and event organisers, in the light of current restrictions, it is the only right and responsible option for everyone involved that we have made the decision to postpone until 2021. The safety and well-being of every FolkEaster has to take precedence over everything else.
Now we need your help.
Over the years we have worked hard to build FolkEast into the special festival that it is. We are continually amazed at the generosity and commitment of all those we work with us in organising and running the event. Everyone does so voluntarily and we all feel an immense sense of pride in what we have achieved.
Pride and responsibility go hand in hand and we have never asked for help before and we have always found ways to get through the challenges that present themselves when organising live events.
The challenge that everyone is facing now is unprecedented and we are all trying to find a way through.
With your support, we want to look beyond these times and help build something bright for us all to look forward to again.
