To improve the quality of the mental well-being and environmental education of our primary school children through Forest School for all.
Who are we?
All Saints Church School is a seven class primary school teaching children aged 4 to 11 years of age and is based in the small village of Montacute, Somerset. We are fortunate enough to be situated in a wonderful environment surrounded by beautiful countryside.
What is our vision?
We are passionate about enriching our children’s education and are now wanting to focus on this beyond the classroom. We are looking to fund a series of sessions for every child in the school to be able to access the enormous benefits of the Forest School approach with a programme specifically tailored to meet the emotional needs of every child.
Why do we want to do this?
Two reasons...Since the pandemic we have noticed that the children’s levels of anxiety have risen and they have become less independent and resilient. Forest School promotes holistic, individualised learning and development and encourages emotional growth, self-esteem, confidence and independence. Forest School sessions will enable staff to connect with children emotionally and spiritually which helps build better learning relationships and provides the children time away from the constraints of the curriculum and freedom to express themselves.
Our children have also shown true passion towards caring for our world throughout the last few years. They have become great advocates for environmental issues therefore through Forest School sessions we feel we can further develop their environmental education. We want to help them to connect with nature and work with groups in the local community to develop a knowledge of nature which can be passed down to the next generation.
Why do we need help?
We, at All Saints Church School, believe that nature is an essential part of a child’s education. As you can imagine, school budgets are very tight and lots of existing resources are focused on ‘catch-up’ curriculums in the classrooms. Therefore we are reaching out for support as we believe that the mental well-being of all children is of paramount importance, so we wish to take extra steps to ensure they are happy, healthy and ready to learn.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you for your support in advance.
