About the Forest of Dean Gymnastics Club
The Forest of Dean Gymnastics Club is a vibrant not-for-profit sports charity, proudly supporting our community since 1997. Our purpose-built Gymnastics & Fitness Centre is a testament to the incredible efforts of our gymnasts, dedicated volunteers, and supporters, including the Hammersley family. Funded partly by the National Lottery, the centre also owes its existence to creative fundraising—like collecting 20p coins in Smarties tubes, endless can crushing (with cans tossed over the Hammersleys' fence!), and countless other initiatives driven by community spirit.
Today, we provide gymnastics classes for all ages and abilities, from toddlers in 'Gym Tots' to competitive gymnasts aged 7–18. Over 500 children train here weekly, alongside fitness enthusiasts of all ages, including many over 50, who benefit from our welcoming and inclusive fitness facilities.
We’ve proudly hosted numerous gymnastics competitions over the years and remain a key venue for the South West & Gloucestershire Amateur Gymnastics Association. As a British Gymnastics-approved training venue, we continue to foster talent and inspire excellence.
