Aim
To provide employment for adults with additional needs. We have converted a pavilion in our local park into a cafe where to achieve this.
Who are we?
Our project has 3 trustees, Mark Julie and Julia. We have a manager,baker and enabler, Belinda Angela and Steve. Currently we have 20 volunteers supporting 25 adults
.
Community impact
The disused pavilion in Forde Park was in a sorry state for many years. We transformed it 30 months ago and it has become a much appreciated community cafe and hub for many locals. We are open 7 days a week serving hot drinks, hot food and cakes. We have many regular customers who rely on us in winter especially as a place of warmth and friendship.
Why are we crowdfunding?
Our costs are rising steeply but we are determined to keep our prices low to enable our customers to continue to visit regularly, support our project and stay warm. Currently tea is £1, coffee £1.50, cake slice £2 and breakfast baps £2.50. Increased costs mean we are running at a loss but Crowdfunding will enable us to maintain these low prices and therefore encourage our customers to continue to access our warm community space.
