Hi, my name is Amy South. I'm an artist and curator living in Newcastle, and I'm in the process of creating something called Planet Ice Cream.

Alongside all the fun and possibility of creative work, I’ve also been dealing with ongoing health challenges, including hormonal diagnosis, skin conditions and the effects of long-term stress.

My health currently limits my ability to work consistently and sustainably. I am already creating, making art and building Planet Ice Cream, but I want to be able to do this in a way that supports my health, rather than pushing through exhaustion.

I am raising £3,000 to access support from a functional nutritionist, including recommended testing and supplements.

Through research, conversations with my GP and private consultations, I’ve found approaches that could really support my health. Functional nutrition looks at the relationship between the body, nutrition and wider health, and I am hopeful that this support could help me better understand what my body needs.

My hope is that, with the right support, I can improve my health and gain lifelong health care skills that help me to look after myself and continue building a sustainable creative practice and business.

I really want to give myself a fighting chance - to get better, to build a life, and to have the energy to create!

This fundraiser is a small step towards that.

Whether you take the time to read this, share it with your networks or a friend, or are in a position to donate, I thank you for your support.

If you'd like to read more about the personal experiences behind Planet Ice Cream, including some of the challenging and self-empowering moments that have shaped it, you can read the story behind Planet Ice Cream here.

I hope that sharing some of these experiences might be helpful for anyone suffering in silence.

Thank you for any support you're able to give, whether that's a donation, sharing the fundraiser with your networks or a friend, or simply taking the time to read my story.

If you'd like to ask me any questions about the fundraiser, the artworks on offer, or Planet Ice Cream, I'd be very happy to hear from you. You can contact me at [email protected].

With support for my health, I hope to have the energy and stability to continue creating in a sustainable way, growing Planet Ice Cream, and exploring how creativity can support health and self-empowerment - not only for myself, but for others too.

With love and thanks,

Amy South
