We want to bring the Foo Fighters to Cornwall, and show the world what an awesome location this is to host one of the biggest bands in the world.
Cornwall has an exciting and thriving music scene and now it is time to bring in the big names that we deserve to have visit. The Foo Fighters are the band that everyone wants to see, and we believe now is the time to get them here.
Fans in the US have successfully pulled the Foo Fighters in to gigs using crowdfunding and Dave Grohl has publicly spoken in favour of it, saying:
"I'm telling you, it could become the way that bands decide where they want to play. It's a fun thing; it sort of changes the game. For the past 20 years we always decided who we're going to play with and where we're going to play. But now, if we hear that people want us to come somewhere, maybe we'll come there."*
We believe that if we can show the Foo Fighters how much Cornwall wants them; they will come!
We are asking you to make this happen by pledging towards the campaign. A small pledge will simply help us on our way, a bigger pledge can ensure that if the gig does happen YOU will be there!
We do not know the date or venue for this gig at this stage. The Foo Fighter’s management are aware of this campaign and if (when!) it is successful we will begin negotiations for a date in their schedule. We will aim for a date on the 2015 tour but we will also consider 2016 as we think this would be worth waiting for. If we are unable to secure a date in 2015 or 2016 by February 28th 2015 your pledges will not be collected.
We guarantee to ensure that this event remains a gig put on by fans for fans, and that it benefits Cornwall as far as possible. We will choose a venue that is as central and accessible to all of Cornwall as possible. We will use local suppliers, whether it’s for staging or security, wherever possible. We will invite local charities to be part of the event. We will do everything we can to prevent touting. And we will ensure local businesses benefit from the big influx of Foo Fighters fans.
How it works -
You pledge using the options on the right of the screen. If enough people pledge and we reach our target of £150,000 before or up until the 24th November our campaign will be deemed 'successful'. We will then put a formal proposal for a gig in Cornwall to the Foo Fighters' management.
It will take time for us to negotiate a date with them, as the gig will need to fit in with their other touring plans. We are setting a time-limit on these negotiations of 28th February - if we cannot organise a date by then your pledges will not be collected. If a date is confirmed with them for a gig in Cornwall during 2015 or 2016 then your pledges will be collected, and the money will be debited from the card you provide. You will then be guaranteed to received whatever you have pledged for - a t-shirt, ticket, superfan ticket etc.
£150,000 is the minimum we need to raise to make this gig happen. If we do not hit our target then we will be unable to put a formal proposal to the Foo Fighters for a gig in Cornwall. There are two ways to pledge to make this happen, via Paypal or Go Cardless.
Please note that if you select the Paypal option then the amount will be debited from your account straight away but it is held by Paypal not us, and will be automatically refunded if the campaign is not successful. If you do not want to be debited right away we recommend you use the Go Cardless option instead of Paypal.
We will keep you updated with our progress at every stage.
About Us -
We are Angela Young and James Warner, Directors of Warner Young Management - a music management and promotions company behind lots of successful events in the UK and further afield. We live and work in Cornwall and we know what a brilliant, creative place it is, but we also feel it lacks the big-name events that many people locally would like to see. Our most recent event was the ‘Live at Heartlands’ festival in September 2014 at Heartlands in Pool, which saw headliners UB40, Boomtown Rats and the Happy Mondays take to the stage with over 60 other artists. We have made it our mission to bring more major artists to Cornwall in the future, and we can’t see any reason why we shouldn’t be able to get the Foo Fighters here next. We know that if the band come we and our brilliant team have the skills and expertise to ensure the gig can go ahead.
But most importantly, we are music fans who live in Cornwall. Tired of travelling to gigs, we want to see them here, on our doorstep, contributing to our economy and our community and allowing us and all of you to rock out right here at home. All we need to do is prove to the band that they are really wanted here!
