Tackling food poverty and cold homes by providing food and fuel vouchers, as well as refurbished fridges, to highly disadvantaged people
Yet this winter, households across London and the South will face an everyday struggle to access simple necessities, such as food to eat and the ability to keep themselves warm and well in their homes.
Indeed, many households struggle to afford a fridge, meaning they are unable to make proper use of leftovers or extend the life of the limited foodstuffs they access, and are forced to buy food every day.
As a result, people are at risk of exacerbated health problems, malnutrition and poor mental health – during the coldest time of the year.
Groundwork needs your support to provide people with the basic necessities this winter, helping them to build resilience to food and fuel poverty.

With your help, we will ensure that people don’t have to choose between ‘heating’ and ‘eating’ and that health and wellbeing are not negatively impacted.

We will reach a wide range of people in need, including people living in poverty; refugees and asylum seekers; and people living with health conditions who are at greater risk of poor health during the winter
And in the spirit of the season, if we surpass our £10K target, we will use any surplus funds to donate refurbished bikes to children whose families would unable to afford one otherwise -so they can experience the joy of a new bike at Christmas.
